Kavafis Konstantinos poetry
The tobacconist's window
Near the brightly lit tobacconist's
shop-window they were standing, in a crowd.
Their glances met by chance,
expressing the forbidden longings of
their flesh uncertainly and shyly.
Then a few uneasy paces on the pavement
until they smiled, and nodded slightly.
And then in the closed cab....
the sensuous meeting of bodies;
the joined hands, joined lips.

Christofidou)
